VSC support is provided to small charitable organizations who are not largely publicized and do not receive major support from the general public. Throughout the year, members of The Volunteer Service Council of St. Louis (VSC) are encouraged to nominate nonprofit organizations to be considered either for volunteer (service projects) or financial support.

If you are a non-profit organization that would like to be considered for the upcoming year, you can nominate yourself. Please read the qualifications below.

The nominated organizations are then sent an application, to be returned by the end of February. The VSC Board reviews the applications in March and selects at least four charities whose representatives are invited to make presentations to the general membership in April. Following the presentations, a vote is held at the April meeting. The nonprofit with the largest number of votes receives financial support, and the others receive volunteer support for one of their service projects.

Currently, the nominations for the 2023 year are open. Applications for this cycle are due February 28, 2023.

Criteria:

  1. Organization must be a nonsectarian, nonprofit organization, whose gross annual receipts fall at or below $1.5 million. We do take into consideration the fact that some organizations operate 24/7 and make allowances for this. Our financial support is for unrestricted use.

  2. For those charitable organizations whose gross receipts exceed $1.5 million, consideration may be granted for a specific project (as detailed in the application) whose estimated total cost falls at or below $1.5 million.

  3. The organization must be local ( headquartered in the St. Louis Metropolitan area) and serve the local community
